Grade III Skilled Laborer

Job Description

Starting rate of pay is $25.41 per hour (up to $30.01 an hour per union scale).  This position will include County paid benefits. Standard hours of work are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.  Some seasonal work may required nights, or weekend work mainly for snow removal. 

The successful candidate will have experience or the ability to be trained on the following: bulldozer, drag-line, crawler-excavator, backhoe, end loader, mower, single axle truck, tandem axle truck, Semi-tractor trailer, motor grader, and related heavy construction equipment used in such tasks as cleaning culverts, placing tile lines, loading and unloading sand, rock, earth and other materials, replacing signs, repairing bridges, putting up guardrail, snow fence ACC and PCC patching, mowing road ditches, building scaffolds and retaining walls, removing trash and debris, putting up barriers in work zones and grading roads, Must be able to do routine servicing to any equipment assigned to him/her and assist mechanic with repairs as needed.  

Qualifications: Applicants must possess an valid Iowa Commercial Driver License (CDL) with air brake endorsement at the time of applying, along with a good driving record.  Prefer roadside vegetation familiarity and herbicide/chemical certification.

Mischallenous: Applicants can plan to work in all types of weather/environments: heat, cold, wet, dry, level ground or on slope/inclines, a combination of manual labor and operation equipment.  Need to be flexible to change.
