The Jasper County Veteran Affairs Commission is seeking qualified candidates to fill a vacancy as of July 1, 2025 due to a current commissioner who is not seeking reappointment.

Selected candidate will attend monthly meetings, typically scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month at 3:00 pm to provide oversee on the services and benefits available and/or administered to veterans within Jasper County.  Selected indiviudal will be responsible for assisting with the budgetary process annually for the local Veteran Affairs Office, assist with planning and facilitating outreach programs and other activities for veterans within Jasper County, and providing oversight, direction, and conducting reviews of the Director and office operations.

Selected candidate will be paid $50.00 per regularly schedule meeting.  This position is considered part-time and is not eligible for any of the County's paid benefits package.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be a veteran as defined by Iowa Code Chapter 35.1 with an honorable discharge, must be a resident of Jasper County, and must provide an unaltered copy of their DD 214 with the application.
