R.E.D. Friday
WHAT IS RED?
Remember Everyone Deployed" (RED), or "Red Friday", is a movement encouraging people to wear red on Fridays to show support for and honor U.S. service members currently deployed overseas, as well as veterans.
What it is: RED Friday is a simple yet powerful way to show support for those who serve in the military, both deployed and veterans, by wearing something red every Friday.
Origin: The tradition is believed to have originated in April 2015 with students at Mansfield University who wore red clothing on Fridays to show appreciation for service members.
Why red? The color red is often associated with courage, bravery, and sacrifice, making it a fitting color to represent the service and commitment of military personnel.
Beyond the shirt: While wearing red is the main action, RED Friday also encourages community involvement, such as organizing events, writing letters to troops, or supporting military families.
How to get involved: Simply wear something red every Friday, spread the word about RED Friday, and consider supporting local military organizations or initiatives.
