Meet Ray!
Introducing, Jasper County’s new Director of Veterans Affairs, Ray Maxey.
“I’m originally from Southern Idaho and joined the Marine Corps at 17, serving for 24 years before retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant in 2007. My training took me to boot camp at MCRD San Diego and "A" school in Millington, TN. I was stationed at various bases, including Cherry Point, Kaneohe Bay, and Camp Pendleton. After retiring, I became a police officer in Marshalltown, IA, for 13 years, including 10 years on the SWAT Team. Now, I’m excited to start as the new director of Jasper County Veterans Affairs. I recently attended my first commission meeting and am eager to implement positive changes for veterans, drawing on my experience as a police officer to support those in crisis. With my wife’s encouragement and the support of the commission and the Jasper County Board of Supervisors, I look forward to collaborating with the commission to enhance resources for our veterans.”
