Secondary Roads
The Jasper County Secondary Roads Department is responsible for maintaining the quality and safety of the roadway system in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. The department is responsible for ditch cleaning, roadway surface maintenance and repairs, bridge and culvert maintenance and repairs, and snow removal. Jasper County is home to 1,227 miles of roads and 317 bridges. Of the 1,227 miles of roads, 927 miles are gravel. In order to maintain these gravel roads efficiently, the county is divided into 10 maintenance territories. Each territory has an assigned motor grader operator, who is in charge of the maintenance of their 92-mile area.
Engineering
The Jasper County Engineers Office is responsible for the design and construction of major road and bridge projects, permitting, budgeting, and personnel administration for the Secondary Roads Department. Permits issued by this office include: driveways, utilities, work in the right-of-way, and oversize/overweight load moves.
